I would like to introduce myself. My name is Mike and I will be your new librarian for the City of New Town. I am new to the library atmosphere, but I look forward to working with all of you. I accept all feedback from people to help make this library better. Please feel free to contact me via email, phone, or in person.

Rummage Sale This Weekend!

Our Rummage Sale is this Saturday (May 30th) @ New Town Civic Center.  We will be open 10:00 AM-4:00 PM.

In conjunction with the Rummage Sale, we are also having a Scholastic Book Fair, a used book sale, book bingo, and a taco in a bag sale.

If you want to buy something from Scholastic but won’t be able to come and see us this weekend you can use this website so your purchase still benefits our library.

If you still want to donate any gently used items, we are accepting donations until Thursday, May 28th.

We are also having a Children’s Story Hour every Friday at 9:00 AM.

Children’s Story Hour

Story Hour today was so much fun.  We read The Lamb and the Butterfly by Eric Carle and made lambs out of paper plates and cotton balls.  One of our patrons brought in cupcakes and jello and juice.  We are having a Children’s Story Hour ever Friday at 9:00 AM.

Don’t forget, we are having our Rummage Sale combined with book bingo, a book sale, a Scholastic Book Fair and a taco in a bag sale Saturday, May 30th in the Civic Center from 10:00 AM- 4:00 PM.

Our library is hosting our first Children’s Library Hour that is open to the public.  We are inviting children ages 3-10 to come to the library on Friday, May 8th at 9:00 AM for a craft, snacks, and story time.  There is no charge, we just ask that you let us know if you’re coming by Friday, May 1st.

We are planning a Rummage Sale!  We will be taking donations for the rest of April and all of May for our Rummage Sale on Saturday, May 30th in the New Town Civic Center.  If you have anything you would like to donate, please stop in or give us a call at 627-4846.

We will be doing a Summer Reading Program again this year and it will start June 1st.  More details to come.

Happy Spring!

First, we hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and are enjoying the new year so far.

Secondly, as you know, our book club meetings have been a little sporadic because of the holiday season.  Our book club will meet the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month in the library at 4:30 pm.  We are choosing our new book next week so it’s a great time for you to start joining us.

The third thing on my list is our benefit.  As most of you know, we had a Benefit Breakfast and Silent Auction on Sunday, December 14, 2014.  So many of you came out to support us and all of the local businesses in our community were so generous with their donations, it was just amazing.  If you don’t already know, our library is very small.  While we love our little library, we are fundraising for a new one.  This will mean more computers, more space, more places to sit and read, and best of all- tons of new books!

Last but not least: We will be holding a rummage sale in April and will be collecting items all winter to sell.  If you are interested in donating your gently used stuff, please stop by the library and drop it off.

Thank you for your continued patronage.  Have a great day!

Book Club Ladies, we are meeting tomorrow, September 2nd, at 7 pm to discuss ‘The Cuckoo’s Calling’.  Please bring a snack to share and a few book suggestions for our next book.  If you know anyone who might be interested in joining us feel free to bring them along.  We hope you are having an awesome holiday weekend!

We still have books available for our book club!  If you’re interested in joining bring $10 for the book to the library.  We’re going to meet after Labor Day to discuss the book, have snacks and vote on our next book and our meeting days.  We’d love for you to join us!

Our bookmark contest is still going on and you only have until September 2nd to turn in your sheets.  Come down and pick one up!  Our theme for the contest is “So much to see. So much to do. @ your library.”  The contest is open to children ages 4-17.  Bookmarks will be published and ready to give away Monday, September 8th.

The library will be closed Monday, September 1st for Labor Day and will re-open on Tuesday for our normal hours.

And last, but not least, our Saturday hours will be ending for the winter.  Hopefully, we will start opening on Saturday again in the Spring.  Check out our Facebook page for updates.  Just search “New Town City Library” on Facebook.
